Kolkata: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) recovered from a slow start to beat Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 25 runs in the Eliminator match of Indian Premier League on Wednesday. They will now play against Sunrisers Hyderabad for a berth in the final.
After losing three wickets for 46 runs, skipper Dinesh Karthik took charge and slammed 52 runs off 38 balls. He was supported by Andre Russell who scored an unbeaten 49 off 29 balls, with three boundaries and five sixes. Kolkata put up a decent 169 runs on the board at the loss of seven wickets.
Chasing the target, Rajasthan Royals’ Ajinkya Rahane (46), Rahul Tripathi (20) and Sanju Samson (50) played their part, but the middle order failed to keep pace with the rising asking rate.
KKR bowlers restricted RR to 144 at the loss of four wickets.
