Kolkata: With no sign of relent in the protest by junior doctors in Bengal over the Kolkata rape and murder case, the medicos intensified their agitation on Monday. They are conducting a march from Kolkata’s College Square area to the headquarters of Kolkata Police, Lalbazaar, to demand resignation of Kolkata Police Commissioner, Vineet Goyal, alleging ineffective handling of the case by the police.
“The spirit of our movement is growing higher everyday against all odds and threats! We will continue our cease work in the same form till our demands are met,” said a protesting doctor, as quoted by The Telegraph.

Night-long sit-in for RG Kar victim
Earlier on Monday, participants of a mega rally, including film personalities and rights activists, held a night-long sit-in Kolkata till 4 am, demanding justice for the 31-year-old trainee doctor, who was raped and murdered at the state-run RG Kar hospital last month. The case is being probed by the CBI. The Kolkata Police, which was investigating the case earlier, had arrested one civic volunteer, Sanjay Roy, in connection to the case. However, no new arrests have been made in the case despite allegations surfacing that multiple people may have been involved in the crime.
