Kolkata: After a marathon interrogation for over 13 hours on Saturday, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will grill Sandip Ghosh—the ex-principal of the Kolkata’s state-run RG Kar Medical College and Hospital—for the third day in a row on Sunday.
The agency, which is probing the rape and murder of a trainee doctor inside the seminar hall of the hospital, had questioned Ghosh from 10 am on Saturday till well past midnight on Sunday. Ghosh was asked to meet the CBI team at 11 am on Sunday as the probe agency had several more queries on the crime. The focus shifted to Ghosh as it has been alleged that he tried to label the case as suicide. It has also been alleged that he revealed the victim’s face and identity to the public
According to reports, Ghosh was asked to tell what he did after received the news of the doctor’s death and whom he contacted. They also asked who informed the ex-principal about the incident. They also asked him why the parents of the victim were made to wait for nearly three hours.
The CBI sleuths also corroborated his version with that of doctors, interns, and nurses who were on duty at the hospital on that night, reported the Hindustan Times.
The probe agency also asked whom did the ex-principal instruct to inform the family of the victim and how and who contacted the police, according to PTI. The news agency quoted an investigating officer of the CBI saying that some of Ghosh’s answers were ‘convoluted.’
Questions related to the weekly roster of the chest medicine department were also asked to the former principal. The victim used to work at the chest medicine department. It was reportedly found that the victim was made to work for up to 48 hours at a stretch. So far, the probe agency has already interrogated at least 20 people from a list of 40, including doctors and police personnel.
