Koraput: The Odisha State Commission for Women (OSCW) on Friday registered a suo motu case in the gang rape of a minor girl near Sorishapadar village in Koraput district by four suspected jawans on October 10.
A four-member team of the Commission has been sent to the spot where the incident occurred. “The team will meet the victim, record her statement and hold discussions with the local administration officials for further action. Proactive steps will be initiated to ensure quick action in the case. The team will also inquire about the medical treatment being provided to the minor girl,” OSCW chairperson Lopamudra Baxipatra informed.
Earlier in the day, the officials of Odisha State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (OSCPCR) met the victim at the Koraput district headquarters hospital and inquired about her health condition.
Meanwhile, the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) has called a seven-hour bandh (6 am to 1 pm) in Koraput on Monday demanding immediate arrest of the culprits in the case.
