Patnagarh: Koshal Yuva Samanyaya Samiti activists have launched a novel protest at Ramai High School grounds here on Friday by organising a purification ritual after sprinkling cowdung water on the premises.
According to sources, the activists were protesting the visit of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to Balangir district on Septemebr 22 to distribute smart health cards to locals under the Biju Swasthya Kalyana Yojana.
The protesting youth of the Samiti assembled at the school ground and ritually sprinkled cowdung water along with holy water from the Ganges around the fireplace to purify the place defiled by someone else.
The youth led by Achut Sipun Khamari and Banamali Nayak alleged stepmotherly treatment towards Western Odisha especially towards Patnagarh by the state government and said all government programmes were an eyewash.
The purification programme was initiated with the propitiation of all local gods and elements.
