Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has appointed commissioner-cum-secretary, Cooperation, and special secretary, Agriculture and Farmers Empowerment, Krishan Kumar as the administrator of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) following the expiry of the five-year term of the civic body on January 16.
The Housing and Urban Development Department, in a notification on Wednesday, said that Kumar will now discharge duties as administrator of the Corporation till the the first meeting of the newly-elected corporators.
The appointment has been made as per sub-section (6) of section 48 of the Odisha Municipal Corporation Act, 2003 (Odisha Act, 11 of 2003), the notification added.
After serving for four years and 10 months as BMC commissioner, the 2002 batch IAS officer was promoted and posted as commissioner-cum-secretary, Cooperation, by the state government on December 21 last year.
