Mumbai: Krystyna Pyszkova of the Czech Republic was crowned Miss World 2024 during a lavish event at Jio World Cinema in Mumbai on Saturday which India hosted after a gap of 28 years.
“Words can’t express how thrilled I am to stand here today and share my emotions. This has been a dream I’ve pursued tirelessly for so long,” she remarked while addressing the media.
Competing against girls from over 110 nations, Krystyna secured the title while Yasmina Zaytoun of Lebanon was adjudged the first runner-up.
Apart from her Miss World title, Krystyna also won the Best Fashion Designer Award – Europe. She beat contestants, including India’s Sini Shetty, Trinidad and Tobago’s Aché Abrahams, and Botswana’s Lesego Chombo.
Krystyna is a student, volunteer, and international model.
The 71st Miss World pageant featured a panel of distinguished judges, among whom were film producer Sajid Nadiadwala, actors Kriti Sanon and Pooja Hegde, former cricketer Harbhajan Singh, news personality Rajat Sharma, social worker Amruta Fadnavis, Vineet Jain, MD of Bennett, Coleman & Co. Limited, Julia Morley, Chairperson and CEO of the Miss World Organisation, Jamil Saidi, Strategic Partner & Host – Miss World India, and three former Miss Worlds, including India’s Manushi Chhillar.
The event was hosted by filmmaker Karan Johar and former Miss World Megan Young.
Notably, India has previously won the title six times.
