Rourkela: Kuarmunda A has emerged as champion in the first OFC-OFA Girls’ League organised in the city.
In the final match of the tournament organised by Odisha FC and Open for All (OFA), Kuarmunda A defeated Bandhposh by 2-1 goals. Chikatmati B won the third place.
Sarojini Tirkey of Kuarmunda ‘A’ was adjudged the Best Player while Sumitra Xalxo of Bandhposh was the Best Scorer with 11 goals. Juli Kujur of Bandhposh was declared Best Defender, Padmabati of Kuarmunda ‘A’ as Best Goalkeeper and Anupama Xalxo of Chikatmati ‘B’ as Best Young Player of the tournament.
Speaking about the tournament, Odisha FC’s Grassroots Manager Suvam Das said, “The women footballers of Odisha always had a good representation in national camps. Our vision is to build on that foundation and act as a catalyst to help the young players improve and make the state and nation proud. This is just the beginning of many things to come.”
OFA founder Naman Agarwal said, “OFA sports foundation aims at offering a platform for all to have access to sports. We are glad to collaborate with Odisha FC and build a better future.”
