Mumbai: Comedian Kunal Kamra has again tried to tease Kangana Ranaut with unsavoury criticism.
In an X post, he called the Bollywood actor a psychological thriller.
“Kangana is the first actress to become a movie genre. You can make a psychological thriller but Kangana is a psychological thriller. Congratulations queen,” he wrote.
However, Kamara’s sarcasm did not go down well with Kangana’s fans, who came back strongly to defend the director and co-producer of her latest film, Emergency, which has not been cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) amid complaints by some Sikh organizations
“Like you are an intolerable pathological liar? In a similar way?,” wrote a user. Another user wrote, “You are that Kunal that doesn’t even require Ganjawala title to show how high you are.”
Yet another X user commented, “If this comment were from a BJP supporter or right winger, he would have been guilt tripped and shamed for his misogynistic views and hatred against a successful woman. But since you are spitting venom against Kangna Ranaut, you will remain a darling to your woke liberal clan.”
Some X comments reminded Kamara that Kangana is a member of parliament (MP) and a recipient of consecutive National Awards for Best Actress.
Green signal from CBFC
Meanwhile, ‘Emergency’ has received a UA certificate from the CBFC on the condition that the film undertakes three edits. The CBFC has also asked for reliable sources of information mentioned in the film. “CBFC has asked filmmakers to give disclaimers on historical events depicted in the film,” the India Today reported quoting sources.
However, the release date has not been finalised yet.
The release of the ‘Emergency’ was recently postponed following criticism from various Sikh organisations. Akal Takht and the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, had even demanded that the film be banned over its portrayal of the Sikh community.
