Bhubaneswar: Tension ran high in Odisha capital on Monday after a large number of BJP activists clashed with the police while attempting to gherao Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s residence. The BJP members were marching towards Naveen Niwas, demanding justice for Kunduli gangrape victim who committed suicide on January 22.
A number of policemen and party members were reportedly injured in the clash. More than 100 agitators were arrested following the protest.
Meanwhile, a group of activists of the BJP took out a separate rally from the BJP State party headquarters to State Secretariat.
“We demand justice for the Kunduli gangrape victim’s family. The Chief Minister should immediately resign on moral ground and a CBI probe be conducted into the issue”, a party leader said.
