Bhubaneswar: Mattress seller Kurl-On is planning to commission the first phase of its second plant, coming up on 19 acres here, by December this year.
The company already has a plant near Chandrasekhapur in Odisha capital.
It also launched STR8 technology mattress in the city on Tuesday.
“With an investment of 65 crore in the first phase, the plant will have a production capacity of 2500 mattresses a day, which will be increased to 4500 a day,” said company’s Chief Marketing Officer, Ashutosh Vaidya.
A total of Rs 40 crore will be invested in the facility in the final phase, he added.
The company supplies mattress made here to Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal and north-east states.
Considering that their eastern zone market has grown by over 19 per cent, Kurl-On is planning another plant at Assam for which it will be investing Rs 100 crore.
Once active, the capacity of both facilities put together will be more than a lakh units a month, Vaidya informed.
The company is planning to expand its retail presence in the zone. There will 200 stores by 2020 and the products will also be available at over 1500 mult-brand outlets, he added.
