Bhubaneswar: Former minister and leader of the BJP legislature party KV Singhdeo on Monday urged Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to hand over the Patnagarh parcel blast probe either to the CBI or the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
“I am constrained to draw your attention to the unfortunate and horrifying incident which took place on 23rd of February where a parcel bomb was delivered to a newly married couple in Patnagarh of Balangir district which is in my Assembly segment. The parcel bomb exploded on opening wherein the groom Soumya Sekhar Sahu and his grandmother Jemamani Sahu died on the spot and the bride Rimarani is struggling for her life at the SCB Medical College in Cuttack,” Singhdeo said in a letter to the Chief Minister.
The impact of the parcel bomb was so great that the entire house has developed cracks. Such an incident which has never occurred in Odisha, has shocked the people of not only Patnagarh but also the entire state, he pointed out.
“As the Chief Minister of the state and holding the Home portfolio, you have to instill confidence among the people at large and take note that the people of my constituency demand that the investigation be handed over either to the CBI or NIA so that the culprits who have perpetrated such a heinous crime can be brought to book,” Singhdeo added.
