Mumbai: Amid the ongoing debate around ‘Anupamaa’ vs ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’ TRPs, Rupali Ganguly, who plays the lead role in ‘Anupamaa’, asked fans not to compare the two popular sitcoms.
Stating that the return of ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’ on small screen is a nostalgic moment, Rupali, in a chat with Telly Talk India, shared, “Ekta ji ka badhapan hai ki woh itni achi achi baatein kar rahi hai. Yeh sach hi hai. Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi is nostalgia. Hum sab ke liye badi garv ki baat hai ki woh humare channel pe show wapas aa raha hai. I don’t understand how can you compare Anupamaa with Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi.(It’s very kind of Ekta that she is saying such things. Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi is nostalgia. It’s a very proud moment that the show is returning on Star Plus.)”
Earlier, reacting to rumours claiming that the makers of the daily soap ‘Anupamaa’ are having issues with the arrival of ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’, Ektaa told Brut, “Yesterday I was seeing some videos of Anupamaa having a problem as Kyunki is coming. I felt that was in such bad taste. She [Rupali] is such a big star. Anupamaa the show, the creator Rajan… has done what nobody else could do in the last seven years. They will continue to be number 1. They should continue to be number 1.”
She added, “We are coming in for our purpose. To tell our story. These unfair comparisons between lead characters and lead shows is so unnecessary and pitting women against each other, pitting content against each other is so uncalled for.”
Ekta Kapoor’s ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’ reboot will be having limited episodes this time.
Apart from the original star cast, the daily soap will also feature the new generation of the Virani family.
The reboot is airing from July 29 at 10.30 pm on Star Plus and JioHotstar.
