Cuttack: Vigilance has arrested a laboratory technician of a blood bank in the city for taking bribe to provide blood to a patient.
Following a complaint that the laboratory technician, Kishore Chandra Swain, of the blood bank near the cancer ward of SCB Medical college and hospital was demanding Rs 5,000 as bribe from the complainant to give two units of blood for a patient, the Vigilance set up a trap.
As per the plan, the complainant went to give the bribe to Swain in the laboratory on Monday evening. The Vigilance sleuths, who accompanied Swain, nabbed the technician accepting the bribe money red-handed.
The Vigilance arrested Swain after filing a case and forwarded him to court on Tuesday. The Vigilance sleuths also carried out simultaneous searches at Swain’s house in Chandini Chowk and his native place in Govindpur, according to an official release.
