Balangir: A person was injured after being hit by a police vehicle at Tulasinagar in Balangir district on Friday night.
According to available information, the accident took place when the driver, who was allegedly drunk, lost control over the van and rammed into a Durga Mandap and then hit a roadside electric pole.
A labourer identified as Ganga Chandan, who was working at the mandap, sustained serious injuries in the crash. Some locals rescued him and got him admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The driver, Rakesh Mohanty, fled the spot leaving the vehicle behind immediately after the mishap.
