Balasore: A LAccMI bus crashed into the walls of a flyover and was left dangling by its sides near Phandi Chhak in Odisha’s Balasore district on Monday night.
Fortunately, the bus was not carrying any passenger at the time of the accident.
According to sources, the accident occurred around 10.30 pm when the bus en route to Sahadeva Khunta bus stand from Balighat teetered on the edge after crashing into the parapet of the flyover, hitting a shop and transformer below it. The driver fled the scene immediately after the accident.
Police along with Fire Service personnel and RTO officials lifted the bus back up on the road with the help of a crane.
Collector Suryanvanshi Mayur Bikash stated that a thorough investigation will be conducted to ascertain whether it was a mechanical failure or the driver’s mistake. Efforts are on to nab the driver, he added.
Eyewitnesses blamed the reckless of the driver, who they said was speeding, for the accident.
