Koraput: A picture of sorry state of development in a remote village of Odisha’s Koraput came to the fore on Saturday when a patient was carried on a sling for over three km before being shifted to a hospital in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh.
Sources said, Ganesh Mandinga, a resident of Digubhadrapalli under Bandhugaon block of the district was not keeping well. His condition grew critical today.
With the village remaining inaccessible in the absence of a motorable road, his family was worried about how to take the patient to the nearby hospital.
His family members and some other villagers had no other way but to carry Ganesh in a sling for a distance of more than three km from where he was taken in an auto-rickshaw to a government hospital in Parvatipuram of the neighbouring state.
Locals alleged that they have been suffering for lack of road connectivity. Their misery is compounded in the monsoon when the foot track road get muddy.
