Lady Doctor’s Death In Odisha’s Keonjhar: Postmortem Report Shows Poisoning

Keonjhar: The postmortem report of woman doctor Subhashree Kar, who died under mysterious condition in Odisha’s Keonjhar district, indicated that she might have died due to poisoning.

According to reports, the body of Subhashree had been sent for postmortem after she was found dead on the bed in her room on Sunday and the report is now available. The postmortem report says that her death might have taken place because of poisoning.

A poison bottle has been seized and it is being sent to the State Forensic Science Laboratory (SFSL) in Bhubaneswar for test, sources said.

A clear picture on the woman doctor’s death will emerge after submission of forensic laboratory report.

The woman’s death has taken a new turn after it came to light that she had filed a police complaint against another doctor accusing him of sexually exploiting her.

Subhashree, who was working as a doctor at Urban PHC in Baneikala of Joda area in the district. She had lodged an FIR at Joda police station on December 20 last year with complaint against Dr Dibyaranjan Majhi working in the hospital of a private mine at Rugudi.

As per a fresh information, Dr Majhi has already resigned from the hospital he was working. He had reportedly sent his resignation letter last month stating that he was proceeding to Bhubaneswar for marriage.

In her complaint, Dr Kar had claimed that Dr Majhi had relationship with her for the last 6 years. Majhi had sexual relation with her on the promise of marriage, but he refused to marry her later, she alleged. The police had registered a case and the statement of Dr Kar was recorded in JMFC court at Barbil.

While the police have not found any suicide note from Dr Kar’s house, her family members have not come out with any statement.

According to the employees of the PHC, Dr Kar herself had made all arrangements for New Year eve celebration with them. “She cooked different items on her own. She also joined us in singing and dancing during the celebration till late night and went to sleep in her room at around 1.30 am,” said one of the employees.

Next morning when her cook came to the house and knocked on the door of her room, the doctor did not open it.

Finally police was informed. A team from Joda police station came to the house in the evening and broke open the door of the room. They found Dr Kar lying on the bed. They rushed her to Tata Steel hospital where she was declared brought dead.

The police have seized the doctor’s mobile phone, medicines and some document from the room.
