Gorakhpur: Ahead of the seven-phase Assembly elections, a series of tweets shook up the state administration and pushed police to overdrive in UP following threats of serial blasts at several places.
A mysterious person posted on social media that a temple in Gorakhpur will be blown up along with chief minister Yogi Adityanath, reported timenownes.com.
The tweet posted from a Twitter handle named ‘Lady Don’ said that bombs had been planted to blow up the Vidhan Sabha in Lucknow, a railway station a bus station, while Bhim Sena state president Seema Singh will eliminate the CM through explosives.
A second tweet said that a certain Sulaiman Bhai had planted a bomb in Gorakhnath Math.
An FIR has been lodged on the tweet threat, and an investigation probe has launched.
Another tweet from the same handle warned about a blast at Meerut CDA Army Cantonment, saying that Furqan Bhai had planted bombs at 10 different locations in Meerut.
A massive combing and search operation was conducted at Gorakhnath temple and other places, but no explosives or detonators were found, Gorakhpur SSP Vipin Tada said.
The SSP said it may have been some kind of a prank played by the person ‘disguised’ as Lady Don.
Security has been beefed up at various locations.
Yogi, seeking a second term as CM, filed his nomination papers from Gorakhpur (Urban) constituency three days ago. Voters will decide his fate on March 3, the sixth and penultimate phase of polling in UP.
