Bhubaneswar: The IndusInd Bank in the city has complained to the Commissionerate Police that a lady lecturer of a college in Dhenkanal district has committed fraud on the bank for availing a car loan.
In an FIR lodged at Kharvel Nagar police station in the city, the branch head of IndusInd Bank, Bhubaneswar has stated that Nibedita Mishra, working as a Sociology lecturer in Anchalika Degree Mahavidyalaya at Birasal in Dhenkanal district and staying in Rasulgarh area of the capital city, had applied for loan from the bank to purchase a car.
In the loan agreement signed with the bank, Purna Chandra Sahoo of Rasulgarh has been made co-borrower/guarantor. Following field verification and checking the necessary document, the bank sanctioned a loan amount of Rs 9,97,998 to Nibedita towards purchasing a Maruti Dzire diesel car of ZDI model. It was agreed that the lady lecturer would repay the loan in instalments.
The bank manager stated that subsequently, Nibedita did not pay the instalment amount regularly and violated the terms and conditions of the loan agreement.
As per the agreement, when the bank executive went to take possession of the vehicle, it was found that the car had been transferred in the name of one Rahul Prusty of Buxi Bazar in Cuttack. The verification of the RC book revealed that Prusty’s name was showing as second owner.
It has also come to light that RTO, Bhubaneswar has transferred the ownership of the vehicle to a third party without knowledge of the bank and loan closure certificate, the bank manager alleged in the FIR.
Stating that Nibedita has changed the name of buyer and seller and transferred the records from Bhubaneswar RTO to Jajpur RTO by fraudulent means in connivance with Purna Chandra Sahoo as co-borrower, the bank manager sought police action to nab the accused and recover the vehicle.
