Bhubaneswar: Even as police have succeeded in finding the body of missing school teacher Mamita Meher of Kalahandi and apprehending absconding prime accused in the case, Gobinda Sahu, they have failed to trace the victim’s mobile phone which may clearify all allegations including involvement of a minister.
In an audio clip that has gone viral, a colleague of Mamita is heard telling the teacher’s brother that Gobinda Sahu, president of managing committee of Sunshine English Medium School at Mahaling in Kalahandi district, was sexually harassing the female employees of the school.
Mamita had also threatened Gobinda over her mobile phone of exposing his involvement in sexually harassment of the female employees of the school, her colleague said in the tape.
Mamita’s family members including her brother and mother have also told the media that Gobinda was running a sex racket from the school.
Besides, Minister of State for Home Dibya Shankar Mishra has been dragged into the case as a video that went viral showed him lavishly praising Sahu at a recent function held at Sunshine English Medium.
While the opposition parties have been crying for the minister’s scalp, Mamita’s mother alleged that the police were not taking any step against Mishra because of his political connections and proximity to the powers that be.
The ruling BJD has dismissed the allegation stating that police investigation into the case was going on and the culprits will be exposed after it is over.
But the fact remains that while police could find the laptop of Mamita and also nabbed Gobinda, they have failed to trace her mobile phone. Is it inefficiency of police or deliberate attempt to push certain facts under the carpet will be known as the investigation progresses.
