Lucknow: Union minister of state Ajay Mishra’s son Ashish Mishra has been summoned by UP police for questioning in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case.
Ashish Mishra was among those booked after eight people — four farmers, a journalist and three BJP workers – were killed during a farmers’ protest on Sunday. Ashish’s car allegedly drove into a group of farmers while driving through the protest site.
“We have summoned him (Ashish Mishra) for questioning. We will record his statement, on the basis of which we will collect evidence,” Lucknow IG Laxmi Singh said.
Police also arrested two close aides of Ashish.
The developments come hours after the Supreme Court asked the UP government to submit a report within a day on how many arrests have been made so far in connection with the case.
