Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Friday nabbed Satyanarayan Challan, branch in-charge of Kunduli LAMPCS in Semliguda Block of Koraput for allegedly taking bribe of Rs 3,000 from a millet farmer in his office.
Vigilance said in a statement that Challan had demanded bribe Rs 45 per bag to procure the 117 bags (50 kg each) of millets of the farmer. Later, following negotiation, he reduced the bribe amount to Rs 3,000.
As Challan refused to accept the millet bags unless the bribe amount was paid, the farmer approached Vigilance authorities, following which the accused was nabbed while taking the bribe.
The entire tainted bribe money has been recovered and seized from the possession of the accused.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations linked to Challan from DA angle.
A case has been registered against Challan and investigation is in progress.
