Bhubaneswar: Congress’ Pradeep Disari from Kalahandi on Tuesday joined the BJD along with his supporters in the presence of party chief Naveen Patnaik at Naveen Niwas here.
Disari said he was disrespected and overlooked by the Congress in selection of candidates. “I was not invited to various party meetings, including the tribal summit in Gopalpur. I’m joining the BJD with my 500-odd supporters and am hopeful for a ticket from Lanjigarh,” he said.
Disari had lost the 2014 elections from Lanjigarh to Balabhadra Majhi of BJD by around 25,000 votes.
“I’m glad that Pradeep Disari has joined the BJD. This will strengthen our party in Kalahandi district,” Naveen said.
