Jeypore: The last queen of Jeypore royal family in Odisha, Rama Kumari Devi passed away late Sunday night. She was 90.
Ramak Kumari, who was ailing for some time, breathed her last in Moti Mahal palace at Jeypore in Koraput district. Her son Chandrachud Deo and youngest daughter-in-law Sarika Devi were present beside her at the time of her death.
Rama Kumari was the wife of the last king of the family Ramakrishna Deo, who was the adopted son of Maharaj Bikram Dev. Ramakrishna was coronated king after Bikram Dev. Rama Kumari was also MLA of Madgul in erstwhile Andhra Pradesh.
Several prominent persons from different walks of life went to the palace on Monday morning and offered their condolences to the bereaved family. Her last rites will be performed at Chandanbadi cremation ground of the royal family in the town on Monday, family sources said.
