Bhubaneswar: Sky gazers are in for a treat as the last supermoon also known as the Beaver Moon will be visible on November 15, according to a report in Scitech daily.
Starting from 4:29 p.m. EST, this celestial event will be the fourth and last supermoon of 2024, after the Sturgeon Moon in August, Harvest Moon in September, and Hunter’s Moon in October.
As the moon will rise after sunset, it will appear larger and more radiant in the night sky, which will be a noteworthy stunning visual to catch.
Originates from North American traditions, the name “Beaver Moon” signifies the time when beavers are busy preparing for winter.
This full moon is also known as the Frost Moon or Snow Moon, signifying the onset of winters.
During this supermoon event, star gazers can also get a chance to view Pleiades star cluster, also known as the “Seven Sisters.”
On November 15, the Pleiades star cluster will be located to the lower left of the moon, and on November 16 ,it will be shifting to its upper right side.
“Supermoons occur when a full moon coincides with perigee—the point in the moon’s elliptical orbit when it is closest to Earth.”
This phenomenon causes the moon to appear larger and brighter than usual.
