Bhubaneswar: Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar has recovered from COVID and pneumonia, informed Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope on Sunday.
“I spoke with Dr Pratit Samdani who is treating singer Lata Mangeshkar. She’s recovering, was on a ventilator for some days, but is better now. She is no more on ventilator. Only oxygen is being given to her. She is responding to the treatment, ” a news agency quoted Tope as saying.
Lata Mangeshkar was admitted to ICU of Mumbai’s Breach Candy hospital on January 8 after she was diagnosed with COVID and pneumonia. She had mild symptoms of COVID, the 92-year-old singer’s niece Rachna had said.
Later, the singer was put under ventilator support in the hospital. On January 29, she was taken off the ventilator for two-and-half days for improvement in her condition but kept under observation.
It may be mentioned that Lata Mangeshkar, who was conferred Bharat Ratna in 2001, was hospitalised after being diagnosed with pneumonia in 2019. She was discharged after 28 days.
