Bargarh: The alleged ‘tit for tat’ raid politics continued in Odisha’s Padampur ahead of the by-election with Goods and Services Tax (GST) officials conducting searches at the residence of a contractor, Pratap Patnaik, late on Tuesday.
“It was an election-related formal search on basis of information. Nothing was found in the house,” Additional tehsildar, Padampur, Ramkrushna Mishra, who is also the magistrate of the flying squad.
The team searched the entire premises for after 2 hours after reaching the house around 9 pm, sources said.
Meanwhile, Pratap’s family has raised questions over the late-night raid in a house with elderly, women and children.
This came two days after similar raids were conducted at about 6 premises linked to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders and their supporters in Bargarh district. Saree shop of BJP leader and Padmapur Nagar president Sunil Agrawal in Bheunria Chhak was searched and so also, petrol pump and medicine stores of party leaders in Bargarh, Paikmal and Padampur.
