Bhubaneswar: Amid the ongoing safe city drive by police ahead of puja festivities, miscreants allegedly attacked a security guard following a suspected unsuccessful loot bid on a vehicle showroom near Mangaraj point along Puri bypass road in Odisha capital late on Tuesday.
The victim has been identified as Gouranga Das.
According to sources, three men came on a scooter around 2 am and launched the murderous attack with sharp weapons on the security guard when resisted their loot bid. They fled the spot after committing the crime.
On being informed, a PCR van of the Commissionerate Police reached the spot and rushed him to Capital hospital in a critical condition.
Badagada police have initiated a probe and efforts are on to identify and trace the attackers.
