New Delhi: Navi Mumbai police arrested a Lawrence Bishnoi gang shooter, Sukkha, from Hariyana’s Panipat in connection with the firing incident outside the Bandra residence of Bollywood actor Salman Khan, news agency IANS reported. He will be produced before the Panipat court on Thursday for transit remand to bring him to Navi Mumbai for further interrogation.
According to the police, Sukkha conducted a recce of Salman Khan’s farmhouse in Panvel. In June, Navi Mumbai police arrested five persons who were allegedly planning to attack Salman Khan on his way to his farmhouse. His name cropped up during an investigation into the firing outside Khan’s Bandra residence. An FIR was already registered against Sukkha.
Earlier this year, Salman Khan told police that he believed that Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang conducted the firing outside his Bandra residence, and he feared that the gang could kill him and his family members. Khan’s statement is part of the charge sheet that the Mumbai Police filed in court.
Khan further revealed that two unidentified persons tried trespassing into the farmhouse using fake identities in January 2024.
In 2022, a threat letter was discovered on a bench near Salman Khan’s Bandra residence, and in March 2023, he received an email threat from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. According to Mumbai Police, revealed that the Lawrence Bishnoi and Sampat Nehra gangs had deployed around 60 to 70 members to monitor Salman Khan’s movements, conducting reconnaissance at his Bandra residence, Panvel farmhouse, and film shooting locations. Based on specific intelligence regarding a plot to assassinate the Bollywood superstar, a case was filed against several individuals at Panvel Town police station on April 24.
