Lawyer Critical After Acid Attack In Odisha’s Gajapati

Paralakhemundi: Unidentified miscreants reportedly acid on a prominent lawyer at his house in Pralakhemundi town in Odisha’s Gajapati district on Saturday.

As per preliminary information, the incident took place at the house of the lawyer, identified as T Rama Rao, in Jangamasahi under the jurisdiction of town Police Station in the evening.

Sources said two miscreants wearing helmets knocked the door of Rama Rao’s house when he was alone. When Rao opened the door, the miscreants threw acid on him and immediately left the place on a motorcycle.

As Rao shouted for help, neighbours rushed to the spot and rushed him to hospital in critical condition. Doctors later referred him a private hospital in Visakhapatnam.

Rao could not recognise the face of the miscreants as they were wearing helmets. His family members were away from the house when the incident occurred.

After getting information about the incident, a police team visited the spot and started investigation. The incident was suspected to have taken place over past enmity. Further details are awaited.
