Mumbai: Raipur Advocate Mohammed Faizan Khan, who allegedly issued a death threat to Shah Rukh Khan and demanded Rs 50 lakh is purportedly getting threat calls now.
Following Faizan’s arrest by Mumbai Police, the accused advocate’s lawyer Virat Verma stated that his client is getting threatening calls and the police are not taking any action.
“Faizan had been getting threat calls of dire consequences for the past few days and despite that we had lodged a complaint, police took no action. There’s a lot more in the case, which I will reveal in sometime,” said Verma, as quoted by TOI.
Advocate Virat also told TOI that he was “preparing a legal defense document and Faizan was being produced in the Raipur court.’
After initial investigation and interrogation, the Mumbai police on Tuesday arrested Mohammed Faizan, a lawyer from Raipur in Chhattisgarh for allegedly issuing death threats to superstar Shah Rukh Khan.
The Bandra police have received a three-day transit remand of the accused lawyer, till November 15.
Last week, the Bandra Police received a call, in which the caller declared himself to be a Hindustani and demanded a sum of Rs 50 lakh from Shah Rukh. The caller further threatened that if SRK failed to give the extortion money, then he would be killed.
“That Shah Rukh from Mannat Bandstand, if he doesn’t give me fifty lakhs, I’ll kill him,” said the caller as quoted by Hindustan Times.
The Mumbai Police registered a case under sections 308(4) (extortion involving threats of death or serious injury) and 351(3)(4) (criminal intimidation) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against the caller.
The number was traced to lawyer Faizan Khan of Raipur. During preliminary interrogation, the lawyer stated that his phone was stolen on November 2 and he had also filed a missing report for the same.
However, when the lawyer failed to appear before the police upon being summoned, the cops took him into custody.
Superintendent of Police (CSP- Civil Lines) Ajay Kumar told PTI that lawyer Faizan claims the threat call to be a conspiracy against him as he had filed a case against the actor for his ‘deer dialogue’ in the movie ‘Anjaam.’
“My phone was stolen on November 2 and I complained. I told Mumbai police about it. They interrogated me for about two hours,” Faizan told reporters.
Divulging details about the case he had filed against SRK, the lawyer said, “I hail from Rajasthan. The Bishnoi community (which is from Rajasthan) is my friend. It is in their religion to protect deer. So, if a Muslim says something like this about deer, it is condemnable. Therefore, I objected.”
“Whoever has made a call from my phone, it seems intentional. I think it is a conspiracy against me,” he added.
