Lawyers-Police Spat: Hearing In Orissa HC Today

Cuttack: The Orissa High Court will hear the ongoing tussle between the police and the lawyers on Friday.

As directed by the High Court, Crime Branch IG Arun Bothra is scheduled to submit the final chargesheet on the assault of a lawyer by the police.

On the other hand, the Orissa High Court Bar Association will have its general body meeting in the afternoon to decide its future course of action.

In view of the verdict of the High Court, the Association had decided to continue its agitation till November 9.

The High Court on October 30 had directed the State Police to complete the investigation into the alleged police assault on a lawyer by November 9.

The incident had taken place on August 28 in Cuttack.

Sitting judge of the High Court Justice C R Das was to monitor the case being probed by the Crime Branch IG. The IO was also directed to apprise Justice Das of the status of the probe every day.
