Puri: The sibling deities in Puri’s Jagannath temple have been adorned with Lakshmi- Nrusingha Besha on Baikuntha Chatturdarshi on Sunday.
After the rituals like Mangal Alati, Mailam, Tadapalagi and Abakasha, the Sinhari Sevayats (servitors) decorated the sibling deities in Laxmi Nrusingha Besha.
Notably, the Lakshmi-Nrusingha Besha is done on Kartika Sukla Chaturdasi tithi (the 14th day of the bright fortnight of Kartika). This besha unfolds the truth that the powerful Nrusingha cult is given due recognition and importance in the Jagannath temple.
In the Kartika Purnima, which is on Monday, the deities would be adorned with Rajarajeswar Besha.
For the restrictions, due to COVID-19, the devotes are deprived of getting darshan of the deities in the temple.
The devotees cannot also sail the miniature boats in the waterbodies this year on Kartika Purnima.
