Bhubaneswar: Continuing the series ‘Meet the Artiste’, which is being conducted every second Saturday of the month, city-based JD Centre of Art organised its 206th edition at Nayapalli campus here recently.
Chiara Tomaini delivered a lecture on ‘Art and Architecture of Venice’, Italy and her past experience at the Peggy Guggenheim Museum. She described the traditional art, craft, handicraft of Venice and how it also reflects the brilliance of east and western countries. She also described the centuries-old mask of Venice and Burano glass handicraft, which has always attracted visitors. A graduate of South-Asian cultures from Ca’ Foscari University, Venice, Chiara did her Master’s thesis on Lord Jagannath and contemporary Pattachitra of Odisha. Currently she is a part of JDCA’a research team.
Among others, Biren Das, Sitakanta Mohapatra, Abasara Beuria, Dhiren Das, Shantanu Mohapatra, Pavan Burma, Ratnamala Mishra, Dhiren Kumar Ray and Ramahari Jena were present.
JDCA was established in 1997 for conservation and promotion of traditional and contemporary visual art. Meet the Artiste, the illustrated lecture began in 2001.
