Bhubaneswar: Police have busted a fake certificate racket with the arrest of a Political Science lecturer posted at Srijagannath Mahavidyalaya at Kaipadar in Odisha’s Khurda district.
The accused has been identified as Tapan Kumar Prusti, who hails from Jajpur.
According to sources, he was arrested on basis of a complaint lodged by Abhishek Kumar Samantray (18) of Dadhimachhagadia, whom he had allegedly provided a Plus-II certificate from an open university, which was later found to be fake.
Abhishek had flunked the Plus-II Arts examinations conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE). He reportedly paid Rs 33,000 to Prusti in two instalments through PhonePe and Google Pay to get the certificate from the open university.
Police had registered a case in this regard under Sections 420, 465 and 471 of the IPC and begun a probe, which revealed that certificate provided by the lecturer was fake.
