Lecturer Critical After Being Thrashed By Student In Odisha’s Jharsuguda

Jharsuguda: A lecturer of PKSS degree college at Kantapali in Odisha’s Jharsuguda district was critically injured after being beaten up allegedly by a student following an altercation on Wednesday.

Sources said the incident took place following an argument after the Plus 3 student reportedly turned up late for his class. On being asked, the student was furious and there was a heated argument between the two.

Thereafter, the student turned violent and thrashed the lecturer, identified as Amit Kumar Barik.

The lecturer, who sustained grievous injuries, was rescued by other students and immediately rushed to a hospital at Jharsuguda and later shifted to VIMSAR in Burla as his condition worsened.

The accused student, a resident of OPM area of Brajarajnagar town, was arrested in connection with the incident, the sources added.
