Bhubaneswar: Concerned over rising fuel prices and vehicular emission, a lecturer in Gajapati district has come up with an answer.
Manas Ranjan Panigrahi, a botany lecturer at Hilltop College in Mohana in Gajapati district, has designed a battery-powered, low-cost bicycle.
“I am concerned by the rise in petrol prices and vehicular emission. I wanted to contribute in some way in reducing emission levels. That was my inspiration,” Panigrahi said.
“The cycle designed by me is around Rs 10,000 less than the battery-run cycles available in the market,” he said.
He watched several YouTube videos and read books to successfully design his cycle.
