Bhubaneswar: The Communist Party of India (CPI) on Sunday announced that a joint front will be formed in Odisha to fight the BJP and the ruling BJD government in the forthcoming Assembly and Lok Sabha polls.
Speaking at a party meeting in the city, CPI national secretary D Raja said efforts were on to stitch a front comprising the CPI, Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M), Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and Congress to fight the BJP and the Naveen Patnaik-led BJD government in the ensuing elections in the state.
“We’ve had a meeting in this regard with Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Niranjan Patnaik and a meeting will be held soon to decide seat-sharing issue with the Congress,” Raja said.
