Koraput: Director General (DG) Of Police Abhay on Sunday said consistent operations of security forces against Maoists have significantly brought down their violent activities in south-western range of the state.
Speaking to media persons during a visit here, the DGP said there has been a marked improvement in controlling the Left wing extremism in the range especially in the cut-off region of Malkangiri district. Odisha Police is committed to make the state free of Maoists, he added.
The DGP visited the district two days after security forces busted an explosive dump of the Maoists in the district. He appealed to the Maoists to lay down the arms and return to the main stream.
Besides operations against Maoists, Abhay reviewed the overall law and order situation in the region.
