Rourkela: Vigilance sleuths on Monday raided the office and houses of assistant controller of Legal Metrology, Rourkela, Bidyadhar Biswal on charges of amassing property disproportionate to his known sources of income.
Basing on a complaint in this regard, a 25-member team, including three DSPs of the anti-corruption department, carried out simultaneous raids on Biswal’s office at Uditnagar in Sundargarh district and his residence at Pokhariput and relative’s house at Patrapada in Bhubaneswar.
The team also searched his ancestral house at Nimikheta in Khurda district.
However, the officials could not raid the Biswal’s residential quarters at LIC Colony here and instead sealed it since it was locked from outside.
Following raids, several documents and papers were verified. The exact amount of movable and immovable assets is yet to be ascertained, vigilance sources informed.
