Leopard skin seized from Boudh district
Boudh: A Special Task Force (STF) team arrested a poacher and seized a lepard skin from him in Boudh district on Wednesday.
Sources said the STF conducted a raid after receining a tip-off about a sale of a leopard skin at Kapasira village under Manmunda police limits.
The STF team also seized one country made SBML gun, 12 big ball ammunition, 17 leads, 25 small empty cases, 2 plastic containers containing black gun powder and other incriminating materials during the raid.
The arrested poacher, Hara Rana, is a resident of Ghuchingi village under Kantamal police limits.
According to the STF, the seized leopard skin will be sent to the Wildlife Institute of India (WII), Deharadun for chemical examination.
The STF, which is Odisha Police’s specialized wing to curb the organized crime, has seized 15 leopard skins, 9 elephant tusks, 2 deer hides, 3 live pangolins and 10 kg of pangolin scales as well as arrested 28 wildlife criminals in the past one year.
