Mumbai: Kubbra Sait has reacted to the ongoing buzz around Govinda and Komal Rani Swarnkar, questioning the judgement and scrutiny surrounding the dating rumours.
Bollywood actor Govinda’s personal life has once again become a talking point, with his equation with Roopa co-star Komal Rani Swarnkar fuelling speculation about their relationship.
The two have been spotted together on multiple occasions, including at the airport and later at Mumbai’s Lalbaugcha Raja, further adding to the online chatter.
Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, Kubbra Sait shared a video in which she addressed the speculation surrounding Govinda’s personal life.
She said, “When did you stop being a fan and start becoming a private investigator? I am asking this because I grew up watching Govinda. Yaa dude, what a superstar, icon, legend. Full 90s was owned by this guy. But today in 2026, if there is a girl, if she’s near him, if she’s breathing air around him, then she’s a ‘mystery woman’, an ‘alleged girlfriend’. You tell me, who has come to this conclusion?”
Kubbra clarified that she does not know Govinda personally but has met Sunita Ahuja, whom she described as “funny”, “outspoken”, “outrageous” and “incredible”.
However, Kubbra said what concerned her most was the expectation for Sunita and other women caught up in such rumours to repeatedly address and justify speculation they had no role in creating.
“When the hell did gossip stop being gossip and start becoming judgement? I’m a public figure, I get it. My life is excruciating, but it’s my work. Why are you taking my personal life and then making it a public spittoon? Like, who asked you?” she questioned.
The actor further stressed that conversations about respecting women should not begin only when they are subjected to something horrific.
She added, “Respect a woman in everyday life, in everyday choices, and don’t ask women to come forward and justify themselves. No one asked. So yeah, before you go out there and go like, ‘I consumed this, let me take phone and put nasty comment,’ or, ‘Wait, let me make one viral video for clickbait,’ ask yourself, ‘Who asked me to do this?’ I’ll tell you the answer. The answer is nobody. If you can’t say something nice, don’t say nothing at all. Just be a fan. Enjoy being a fan.”
The controversy comes amid reports of trouble in Govinda’s marriage to Sunita Ahuja and speculation about his equation with Komal.
The dating rumours gained traction after the two were seen together at the airport and subsequently at Mumbai’s Lalbaugcha Raja.
Addressing the dating rumours, Govinda clarified that his equation with Komal is professional and said he visited Lalbaugcha Raja to pray for the success of Roopa.
The actor also alleged that the speculation was a “strategically planned” attempt to separate him from his family and damage his reputation.
Taking to Instagram, Komal responded to the controversy and denied having any role in the alleged strain between Govinda and Sunita Ahuja.
She argued that “nobody can be a homebreaker in an already broken house” and questioned why her name was being brought into the matter.
Amid the controversy, actors including Divya Khossla Kumar, Rakhi Sawant and Kashmera Shah also came out in support of Sunita Ahuja.
