Berhampur: The Additional District Judge of Chhatrapur sentenced three people to life imprisonment on Saturday. The convicted people are Dillip Acharya, Pramod Kumar Behera and Krushna Ch Das. Dilip has been charged with a fine of Rs 20,000 while the other two have been slapped with Rs 10,000 each.
On Decemeber 18, an electrical employee, Yudhisthira Nahak, 58 of Khallikote went missing. It was subsequently discovered the Yudhisthira was kidnapped.
During the investigation, it was revealed that in 2002, the accused Dillip Acharya had collected Rs 1.6 lakh from Yudhisthira’s son Sankar Nahak with an assurance to provide him and his younger brother a job in the Army. Dilip couldn’t deliver on his promise nor did he return the money.
Then Sankar and others compelled Dillip and his father, Radharamana Acharya to sell and register a piece of land in the name of Sankar Nahak’s mother.
In order to take revenge, on July 18, 2012, Dillip with the help of his driver Krushna Ch Das, Gopa Maharana, Pritamsagar Satpathy and Devi Pd Satpathy kidnapped Yudhisthira Nahak and kept him first in the residence of one Madhusmita Satpathy and subsequently at Hotel Rumani in Puri. They made threatening calls to Sankar demanding ransom to the tune of Rs 16 lakh. Subsequently, Dillip and his associates killed Yudhisthira.
