Life term of Abhimanyu Sahu’s killers

Bhubaneswar: While pronouncing the verdict on BJD leader Abhimanyu Sahu’s murder, the Additional District Judge (ADJ) Court, Titlagarh, on Thursday sentenced the four accused to life imprisonment.
The court held Alok Das, Jagdish Bag, Naresh Singh and Santosh Rana guilty on the basis of investigation and evidence produced by the prosecution. The main accused, Alok Das, also has to pay a fine of Rs 20,000.
The BJD youth leader was killed by unidentified miscreants on December 15, 2013. Alok and three of his accomplices tried to kill Abimanyu by running him over with their car and hacked him to death after finding him alive.
The state Crime Branch was handed over the task to probe the case. The investigating agency had cracked the case by arresting the four persons on December 28, 2013. Inquiry revealed that Abhimanyu was killed over business rivalry.
“Accused Alok Das, Santosh Rana, Jagdish Bagh & Naresh Singh sentenced to life imprisonment under section 302 IPC & also ordered to pay fine,” Crime Brach ADG BK Sharma tweeted.
He further informed that the Crime Branch closely tracked the trial and because of dedicated efforts of Special Public Prosecutor they could secure conviction of the accused.
