Puri: Lifeguards on Odisha’s Puri beach thwarted a robbery attempt and recovered Rs 5,500 allegedly stolen from tourists by two persons, posing as beggars.
According to sources, three tourists came across a woman beggar on the beach. She then offered to fetch them liquor for Rs 500 when they enquired about it. After consuming the alcohol, the tourists fell unconscious. Seizing the opportunity, the woman and her male accomplice allegedly stole Rs 5,500 from the tourists’ belongings.
However, lifeguards stationed nearby noticed the suspicious activity and quickly stepped in, apprehending the suspects and recovering the stolen money. Their swift response earned widespread praise from locals and tourists alike.
