Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Bhubaneswar, on Monday issued thunderstorm and lightning warning for six districts of Odisha from 5.30 to 9:30 pm.
They are Malkangiri, Koraput, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Gajapati and Nabarangpur districts. People in these districts have been advised to take shelter in nearby buildings and other safe locations.
These districts are also likely to receive heavy rainfall, the IMD added.
District Collectors of respective districts, the Special Relief Commissioner, Managing Director of Odisha State Disaster Management Authority and all Revenue Divisional Commissioners have also been alerted.
Earlier in the week, 11 people were killed in lightning strikes at different parts of the State.
