Lightning claims nine lives in state

Bhubaneswar: Nine persons were killed while six others sustained injuries in lightning strikes at different places across the state on Friday.
A youth was killed after being struck by lightning at Jalamandua under Bhandaripokhari block, while another died and three were seriously injured at Radhanathapur under Basudevpur block in Bhadrak district.
In Balasore, a woman was killed in lightning strike at Sirapur under Sora block and another near Bhimjor under Kolabira block in Jharsuguda district.
Lightning claimed two more lives at Machhimura village under Sohela police limits in Bargarh district and Mahakalpara in Kendrapada district.
Similarly, one person died and two were injured at Bisra in Rourkela. Bhasma area in Sundargarh reported another death while one person was seriously injured at Anandpur in Keonjhar.
In Jajpur, 11 cattle died after being struck by lightning.
