Jajpur: Three persons were killed after being hit by lightning at different places in Odisha’s Jajpur and Balasore districts on Tuesday, reports said.
While lightning claimed the lives of two persons, including a 16-year-old boy, in Jajpur district, another person died at a village in Balasore.
According to sources, two persons were working in the field at Bhubanpur village under Dharmshala block of Jajpur district when lightning struck.
As both collapsed at the site, villagers rushed them to the community health centre (CHC) at Barchana where doctors declared both dead. The deceased have been identified as Chandan Mallick (16) and Banchanidhi Mallick (20).
In a similar incident in Balasore district, a youth was killed at Kalakhunta village under Khaira police station limits in Sora area, reports said. Lightning struck when he was going out for work.
