Kendrapara/Puri: Six persons were killed in lightning strikes in Kendrapara and Puri districts on Wednesday afternoon.
In Kendrapara district, five persons were killed and two seriously injured. Of the five deceased, two were killed after being struck by lightning on a paddy field at Karanja village in Mahakalapada block. Similarly, two villagers from Marilo and Gotribila in Garadpur block were killed while working on their paddy fields. The fifth deceased hailed from Naranpur village in Marshaghai block.
In Puri district, a woman died and two persons were seriously injured when lightning struck them on a paddy field at Bantu village in Nimapada block.
